Guess what’s back in the news?
Yep, it’s our old friend Vitamin D again. The BBC breakfast programme was running a piece of “hot news” this morning that Chief Medical Officer was England and Wales was concerned over the deficiency of Vitamin D in children’s diet causing rickets.
Hardly hot news, since we’ve covered this topic already a few MONTHS ago, but we’re glad to see the BBC keeping up…
There’s a story about how to boil a frog… You may of already heard it, but stay with me…
It starts out with a frog, and a pan of boiling water. When you put the frog in the pan it just jumps straight out because the sudden shock of the boiling water gels it into action. Hmm, Smart Frog!
So, to boil a frog, you have to do it s-l-o-w-l-y. Put the frog in a pan of cold water, and slowly Click, raise the heat, Click, 1 degree at a time, Click, until the pan, Click comes to the boil.
The story goes that because the frog was already in the water, and it was nicely accustomed to it, and by raising the temperature slowly, you can fool the frog into staying in the pan until it’s too late. Hmm, Stupid Frog!
What does that story have to do with real life. Well, a lot actually.
I’ve just heard the the broadcaster Bob Holness has died at 83. My immediate memory of Bob was as the host of Blockbusters, a TV show I used to watch when I was a teenager, although he career spanned nearly 60 years.
“I’ll have a ‘P’ please Bob” – you’ll understand if you ever caught the show.
My regards to his Family.
